Maramataka 101
I’ve been learning more about the different Maramataka and trying to follow different rohe…
There are so many different maramataka arriving and emerging. We are constantly learning and growing. Our process for reindigenizing ourselves is constantly evolving and developing. We are learning to recenter our indigenous knowledge. We are building a stronger base of matauranga for our future generations that we can share. We are working towards (re)normalising our matauranga Maori.
While at Te Tahuhu o te Rangi today, I had a discussion with a few people about Maramataka. I’m always needing to remind myself that everyone is on their own journey to reindiginise. To reconnect with their matauranga Maori. To reconnect with themselves.
During this discussion, an awesome wahine talked about still learning about the different maramataka and how her tama’s kura is based around maramataka.
I suggested she download the app Hina and one of our incredible Te Tahuhu o te Rangi librarians and makerspace geniuses Mike showed her the vinyl stickers they’re about to start creating for sale here. So exciting!
Where do we even start?
